In the serendipitous kind of way someone pointed out a typo with the list. It was meant to be “Allow Yourself to Make Mistakes” but became “All Yourself to Make Mistakes.” At first I wanted to correct it then I decided to let it be and just add the grammar marks. So I sort of corrected it but let it be a mistake.

The new version of my wedding photography site has been launched so I figured I’d do a little write up about the hows and why.

Our old site and separate blog functioned fine but our visitor stats showed that 50% of people didn’t go past the frontpage, so I figured that was my cue to give the frontpage a little bit of oomph with more photos, more colour and generally a big dose of awesome. I figured the best way to do this was to combine the blog onto the frontpage of the main site but not have it too overwhelming and keep the focus on the photography itself.  Of course the challenge with that was not overloading on visuals or cluttering it up.

The other big hurdle was in making it work, I have a design background but I’ve never been much into the development side of the web and it’s been a while since I’ve done any site builds myself. So, I based it off the existing blog template since the blog layout and functionality would stay the same, then built the rest of the site around that. So far nothing seems too broken!

Hopefully it’s a winner! Check it out.
