The new version of my wedding photography site has been launched so I figured I’d do a little write up about the hows and why.
Our old site and separate blog functioned fine but our visitor stats showed that 50% of people didn’t go past the frontpage, so I figured that was my cue to give the frontpage a little bit of oomph with more photos, more colour and generally a big dose of awesome. I figured the best way to do this was to combine the blog onto the frontpage of the main site but not have it too overwhelming and keep the focus on the photography itself. Of course the challenge with that was not overloading on visuals or cluttering it up.
The other big hurdle was in making it work, I have a design background but I’ve never been much into the development side of the web and it’s been a while since I’ve done any site builds myself. So, I based it off the existing blog template since the blog layout and functionality would stay the same, then built the rest of the site around that. So far nothing seems too broken!

This was a sounddesk shoot which mean we were behind the floor crowd half way down the stadium. Bit of a shame, but I managed to wrangle a few decent ones that didn’t have to get cropped to death TOO badly.

Last November I was approached by my Roller Derby league to take some head shots for their website and bout magazines.
I used a quick single speedlite set up against the only plain wall I could find in the roller rink and had the girls line up. This was a very quick shoot and the shots turned out really nice for 1 speedlite & limited time.
In these shots are Lollipop A. Cap, Ophelia Boneshatter, Rose Ruin, Iron Thighs, Pinch Anna Punch and Slawta Dawta
